VISAS AND VISA WAIVERSET DISPENSES

To enter France, foreign nationals (except residents of the Schengen area) must have a visa, justify the purpose of their stay, their means of subsistence and their accommodation conditions. To obtain a visa, you must contact the French embassy or consulate in your country of residence before your departure. The type of visa you need to present upon arrival in France depends on the length of your stay and the reason for it. For a stay of three months or less (90 days): You must be in possession of a “Schengen visa”. This visa is issued for one or more entries, most often for business trips or family visits. The “Schengen visa” also allows its holder to stay in France for a short training course, an internship, or to carry out a paid activity. The “transit visa” allows the holder to stay in the Schengen area for a maximum of 5 days. Except in exceptional cases, a visa is not required for transit through a French airport, provided that the holder does not leave the “international zone”. For a stay of more than three months (90 days): You must be in possession of a “long-stay visa”, adapted to the duration and reasons for your visit. Once you arrive in France, you must contact the French Office of Immigration and Integration or the appropriate prefecture to obtain a residence permit. The “long-stay visa” cannot be changed after your arrival in France. Nationals of the European Union, the European Economic Area and Swiss nationals do not need a visa to come to France, regardless of the length of their stay. On the other hand, family members of EU, EEA or Swiss nationals are subject to the same travel regulations as other foreigners of their nationality.
